Orthopedics of Jaws

MOBILE PROSTHESIS

Mobile prostheses are used in therapy of various irregularities of teeth or small-occlusions. Children between 7and 14 years old are typical candidates for such prosthesis due to development of their jaws in that period of age is still in progress. Prostheses for adults are different because their jaws are fully developed. Mobile teeth prostheses are made of plastic basis and can be in different colours and patterns which hold wires for teeth correction while wearing it. After necessary corrections (repair and extraction of teeth) and taking tooth print the prosthesis is made in proper technique.

FIXED PROTHESIS

Fixed prosthesis contains metal or aesthetic locks glued on teeth and connected by wire. The advantage is in faster correction of irregularities due to impossibility of removing such prosthesis. Fixed prosthesis is made directly in the patient’s mouth.

RETAINERS

Majority of people who have prosthesis must take retainers at least for a while after removing prosthesis. Others apply retainers in some medical problems therapy (bruxism – night gnashing of teeth).
